Money: The Secret Client Issue
- To be Announced (2008)
Presented by Eddie Reece, LPC
Educational Objectives:
This workshop addresses the many issues of money as it pertains to the psychotherapeutic relationship. Issues to be discussed include:
Money and the client therapist relationship
The client’s financial life
The therapist’s financial life
How to market your practice
Building a self pay practice
Overcoming obstacles to building wealth
The purpose of the presentation is to educate therapists on how exploring financial lives can lead to dramatic healing of psychological issues. Financial lives are rarely talked about, especially in psychotherapy. Given the importance of money in one’s life, doesn’t it make sense to explore our financial lives especially from psychological perspectives? The presentation will help the clinician navigate rarely charted waters of the financial world of the attendees and their clients. Working with money issues is one of the easiest ways to bring about psychological improvements.
The presentation will expand the counselor’s awareness of how one’s financial life is not only a metaphor for the rest of one’s life, but an area where the search for meaning is in full force. The following areas will be presented:
The secrecy of money
The meaning of money
The connection between shame and one’s financial life
The different money personalities
After attending this presentation, the attendee will:
- Have a clear understanding of how a financial life can be used to enhance emotional healing that can lead to building wealth.
- Distinguish money personality types and how each type has it’s own psychological issues.
- Learn gentle ways to feel more comfortable about your money situation and improve it. It only takes a few minutes each week to do what needs to be done to have the financial life you want. If the thought of doing this causes you to feel excited or anxious, you’re probably a good candidate to attend!
