Shala Nicely, MBA
Community Liaison, Intake Coordinator, & Counselor Intern
Shala Nicely is a Counselor Intern at The Anxiety & Stress
Management Institute, as well as an Intake Coordinator and the
Institute’s Community Liaison. Shala is currently working toward a
Master’s in Mental Health Counseling at Mercer University. She has
a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Illinois and
an MBA from the Goizueta Business School at Emory University,
where she was awarded a Woodruff Fellowship. Before going back
to school to become a counselor, she spent more than 15 years
working in sales and marketing for large and small companies.
Shala’s therapeutic approach is cognitive behavioral and existential. Her specialty is exposure therapy, including exposure and response prevention (ERP) therapy for OCD. She is a member of the National Conference Planning Committee for the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF) and attends the conference each year to stay up-to-date on the latest research in the field.

Shala is co-founder with Dr. Rebecca Beaton of OCD Georgia, the Georgia affiliate of the IOCDF. She is a member of the IOCDF, the Anxiety Disorders Association of America, the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, and the American Counseling Association.
