Amy Burnett is a Licensed Professional Counselor, National Certified Counselor, and Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist at The Anxiety & Stress Management Institute. Amy holds a Masters of Science degree in Professional Counseling from Georgia State University. Amy graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Kennesaw State University and also has previous graduate experience at Emory Medical School, stemming her interest and passion in the mind-body connection. Amy's education, training, and interests enable her to be a strong fit in specializing in working with clients with health issues, which includes all of the following: stress management concerns, progressive illnesses, chronic illnesses, fertility issues, pregnancy issues, weight management, and pain management.
Amy also has many years of experience in the treatment of anxiety disorders; including general anxiety, social anxiety, panic disorder, agoraphobia, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and trichotillomania. Amy can incorporate cognitive-behavioral therapy and exposure therapy in treating anxiety disorders. Overall, Amy utilizes a strength-based approach to therapy incorporating humanistic, interpersonal, psychodynmamic, and cognitive-behavioral therapy. Amy is also educated in Imago Therapy and Attachment Theory and utilizes this knowledge in helping individuals and couples who are dealing with relationship issues to find and/or restore true connection and meaningfulness in their relationships. Another area of expertise for Amy is in working with clients with depression or bipolar disorder to help them find fulfillment in their lives. Amy also specializes in treating clients who have gone through grief, loss, or life transitions. Amy utilizes relaxation training, mindfulness skills, and stress management skills to help her clients find and regain a sense of inner peace and calm. Amy is also Certified as a Hypnotherapist for those clients who want to explore this mode of treatment. Each of Amy’s clients receives individualized care that is uniquely tailored to their culture, life situation, and treatment goals.
Amy works with the firm belief that with therapeutic awareness, empowerment, coping skills, and motivation, each individual has the potential to not only heal and reach their goals, but to truly thrive and feel fulfilled in life.
